Balfood Kitchen started in a small kitchen in East London, cooking the food we grew up on for friends and families who missed the taste of home. Word spread because the food was honest: proper spices, fresh meat, and rice that was never an afterthought. Today we still cook in small batches, still grind our own spice mixes, and still treat every order like it's going to our own family table.
We are not a chain and we do not aim to be one. Every curry, biryani and kebab is cooked to order by cooks who learned from their mothers and grandmothers, not from a central recipe book. That means the heat can be adjusted properly, the oil is never reused, and the portion sizes are generous because hunger is not a marketing metric.
Our menu covers the classics — chicken tikka masala, lamb biryani, seekh kebabs — but also the dishes you rarely find on high street menus: brain masala, oxtail curry, and the kind of daal that takes all day. We source meat from local halal butchers and vegetables from the market each morning, so what lands on your plate is as fresh as it can be.
We are a takeaway and delivery kitchen first, but we also cater small events and family gatherings. If you are planning a birthday, a funeral, or just a Tuesday that needs to be better, we can put together a spread that feeds everyone properly without the fuss of cooking all day yourself.
Everything is packed in compostable containers, delivered hot, and priced so that a family can eat well without it costing a fortune. We are proud to be part of the local area and to serve the people who live here, many of whom have become regulars over the years.
